The challenge
DP World Saint John was preparing its port terminal for substantial growth and new systems and processes. Its operations and maintenance leaders needed to work as one team, set shared priorities and prepare employees for the transition while retaining the terminal’s close-knit culture.
Our approach
Objective Leader interviewed the project sponsor and five participants to understand the team’s priorities and opportunities. A series of team coaching sessions then helped the leaders agree how they would prepare the port’s operations for expansion.
The outcome
The team created an operational vision, agreed shared goals, clarified the roles of operations and maintenance, and developed a plan to transition systems and processes. Team feedback indicated that the coaching strengthened accountability, regular communication and proactive planning.
“Objective Leader added some valuable insights and provided strong tools for our team to be both accountable and to take action on difficult issues where a group approach was needed. With our fast-growing business, the coaching sessions were a great refresher on how we all need to grow and row together to do more.”
